Dear Network,
On March 23, 2026, Next African Generation had the honour of meeting with H.E. Mrs. Judith MULENGA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia to France, Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, for a high-level exchange at the Embassy of Zambia in Paris.
Our discussion explored Zambia’s democratic stability and its peaceful transfer of power in 2021, highlighting the country’s strong institutional foundations and political maturity. We also examined Zambia’s strategic role in the global energy transition, particularly through its position as a leading copper producer and its ambition to move up the value chain with initiatives such as “green copper.”
Particular attention was given to the evolving role of African countries in the global economy — shifting from exporters of raw materials to key industrial and strategic actors. We also discussed the crucial role of the African diaspora, the challenges faced by young talents returning to the continent, and the importance of effectively integrating this new generation into national development strategies.
These exchanges fully align with NAG’s mission: connecting Africa’s emerging leaders with diplomats, institutions and decision-makers shaping the continent’s future.
We extend our sincere thanks to H.E. Mrs. Judith MULENGA and the Embassy team for their warm welcome, availability and insightful dialogue.

Our discussion explored the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s immense economic potential, particularly its strategic natural resources—cobalt, copper, lithium—and its central role in the global energy transition. We examined the country’s ambitions to move up the value chain through local industrial transformation, as well as major structuring projects such as the Inga 3 hydroelectric development. The conversation also addressed key priorities including agricultural development, food security, and the mobilisation of international partnerships to unlock sustainable growth.
